Nuova casa, nuova vita. Trasferirsi e trasformare: il primo restyling diy parte dalla cucina

     Quando abbiamo iniziato la nostra vita nella nuova casa, l'unico arredo che abbiamo avuto in "eredità" è stata la cucina in stile arte povera, di legno scuro, che proprio non mi andava; quello che è stato definito quasi un tinello, proprio per le sue dimensioni ma anche per il colore, appesantiva e chiudeva l'ambiente già di per sè ridotto e non corrispondeva alla mia idea di focolare. Marrone scuro i pensili tutto intorno, altrettanto la parte inferiore e un top in marmo azzurro. 

Una cucina a vista separata dalla zona giorno da un alto bancone anch'esso in pesante legno marrone scuro con altrettanti sgabelli massicci in pendant. 

L'acquisto della casa non lasciava margini per spese ulteriori ma per me era decisamente una questione aperta da risolvere.

Sono sempre stata un'amante dei lavori manuali e della pittura e quale miglior soluzione se non rimetterla a nuovo con un bel color panna, cambio maniglie e rete per polli a sostituire i vetri? E riportare a legno il bancone? E perchè non togliere del tutto un lato di pensili a favore di qualche mensola? Detto fatto, con i tempi (e il disagio) di chi vive in casa mentre fa lavori di ristrutturazione. Ma che ventata di leggerezza e di luce!

Il restyling in foto mi ha convinto molto per i primi anni, è stato un lavoro economico e sostenibile che ha finalmente introdotto lo stile che cercavo!

When we started our life in the new house, the only piece of furniture we "inherited" was the kitchen in the rustic "Arte Povera" style, with dark wood, which I really didn't like. What was almost referred to as a dining nook, due to its size and color, weighed down and closed off the already small space, and did not match my idea of a hearth. The upper cabinets were dark brown all around, as was the lower part, with a blue marble countertop. It was an open kitchen separated from the living area by a high counter, also in heavy dark brown wood, with matching massive stools. The purchase of the house left no room for negotiation, but for me, it was definitely an issue to be resolved. I have always been a fan of manual work and painting, so what better solution than to refresh it with a nice cream color, change the handles, and replace the glass with chicken wire? And why not bring the counter back to wood? And maybe remove one side of the cabinets in favor of some shelves? Done and done, with the time (and inconvenience) of living in the house while doing renovation work. But what a breath of lightness and brightness! The restyling in the photos convinced me a lot for the first few years; it was an economical job that finally introduced the style I was looking for!
